Frequently asked questions
What’s sugaring, anyway?
A warm paste made from sugar, lemon & water is applied against the direction of hair growth and flicked off with it. It’s like waxing—but sweeter, cleaner, and less ouchy.
How long should my hair be?
At least 1/8 inch—about the length of a grain of rice. That gives the sugar paste something to grip.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Yes! No dyes, no fragrances, no funky stuff. Just three natural ingredients—and lots of love.
How long will I stay smooth?
3–5 weeks of silky goodness. Plus, regrowth comes back softer and less stubborn.
Can I sugar if I have tattoos or piercings?
Yes! Just let us know ahead of time. We’ll work around piercings safely, and sugaring can actually help exfoliate tattooed skin, making your ink pop.
Does it hurt?
Let’s be honest—it’s hair removal. But most clients say it’s way gentler than waxing and gets easier every time.
Can I sugar on my period?
Sure can. Wear a fresh tampon or cup and come as you are. No judgment, ever.
What areas can be sugared?
Brows, lips, underarms, legs, bikini, Brazilian, chest, back—you name it, we sugar it.
What do I do before & after?
Before: gently exfoliate 1–2 days ahead, skip lotion day-of, wear comfy clothes. After: avoid sweat & heat for 24–48 hours, moisturize daily, exfoliate to prevent ingrowns.
Is sugaring safe during pregnancy?
Totally! Hormones might make you more sensitive, but we’ll adjust the technique and pace to keep you comfy. Just give us a heads-up when booking.
Sugaring versus waxing and shaving
Natural ingredients
Sugaring paste is made from sugar, lemon, and water—no synthetic resins, dyes, or mystery chemicals. That makes it ideal for sensitive skin and eco-conscious clients.
No skin trauma
Sugar paste only sticks to hair and dead skin cells—not live skin—so it’s far less aggressive than wax, which adheres to everything in its path.
Longer-lasting results
Like waxing, sugaring removes hair from the root, so results last 3–5 weeks. Shaving only cuts hair at the surface, meaning regrowth appears in days.
Easy cleanup
Water-soluble and residue-free, sugar paste rinses off with warm water. Wax often requires oil-based removers and can leave sticky patches behind.
Skip heat & sweat
No hot baths, saunas, or intense workouts for 24–48 hours—open follicles need calm.
Less painful technique
Sugaring removes hair with the direction of growth, reducing breakage and discomfort. Waxing pulls against the grain, which can be more painful and cause irritation.
Gentle exfoliation
Sugaring naturally exfoliates while removing hair, leaving skin smoother and brighter without the harshness of razors or wax strips.
Fewer ingrown hairs
Because hair is removed in its natural direction, sugaring helps prevent ingrowns and clogged follicles—something shaving and waxing often aggravate.
No heat, no burns
Sugar paste is used at room temperature, so there’s no risk of burns—unlike hot wax or heated razors.
Wear loose clothing
Soft, breathable fabrics help prevent friction and irritation.
